Back in Arizona

Klára Spilková intends to continue the trend of gradually improving results at her fourth American Epson Tour start this year. After tying for the 30th place at the IOA Championship in California (-2; 72-73-69), the Czech golfer has returned to Arizona, where had finished 35th at the Longbow Golf Club just two weeks ago. The event will be played from Thursday, 31 March in Tuscon. The Casino del Sol Golf Classic is usually played for four rounds, with a cut after the second. At the Sewailo Golf Club (5,838 m, par 72), golfers will compete for a total price money of 200,000 US dollars.

“Unlike the previous tournament in Arizona, this is my first time here. The course lies, as usual, in the desert. It may be flat, but also very technical, with plenty of water and streams. It has shaped greens and a lot of bunkers around them,” said Klára Spilková, looking forward to the competition, after managing to practice only briefly due to a storm. She practised some more the day before the tournament.

The Czech professional starts at the Casino del Sol Golf Classic at 12.02 local time from the 10th hole, and the game resumes from hole 1 at 07.22 on Friday.

The title is defended by Chinese Ruixin Liu, who defeated Swiss Morgane Metraux last year in the playoffs on the second hole. The winner’s score was 15 under par, and minus 7 was needed for the Top 10.

This year’s competition of 120 golfers will include Spaniards Nuria Iturrioz and Luna Sobron Galmes or Danish Nicole Broch Estrup (née Larsen).
