Top 40 on Scottish Tournament
Klára Spilková turned her sixth start in the LPGA 2020 season into her second-best result of the year. At the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open (The Renaissance Club), Klára passed the cut to tie for the 33rd place with the score +4 (69-73-74-72), earning her 8,046 euros in prize money.
The KPMG global team and Czech Golf Team member started off the renewed season by two starts in Ohio, where she tied for the 73rd place at the LPGA Drive On Championship and then failed to pass the cut at the Marathon LPGA Classic.
Scotland has partly lifted her spirits, especially thanks to her great start in the competition when she squeezed into Top 10, and she was still 13th after round two. Even though the play on the weekend did not meet her expectations, she was eventually satisfied with her performance in overall.
“The score doesn’t really show it, but I played solid golf and swung well. The tournament was difficult, mostly due to the weather. We fell behind the schedule and started late. I had a bit of hard luck at the end when I had to drop an impossible ball. The course was against me this time, but I am not giving up, the season is only starting to pick up the pace.”
The LPGA member has stayed in Scotland for the first major of the season, AIG Women´s Open. It was only a one-hour car drive from North Berwick to the Royal Troon Golf Club. The tournament is scheduled from 20 to 23 August.
