A Shot from Playoff and Fourth Place on Epson Tour
Klára Spilková has repeated her best result of the season on the Epson Tour when she tied for the 4th place in her third consecutive start.
On the Four Winds Invitational, Indiana, the Czech golfer played 6 under par (72-69-69) after three rounds, repeating her season high from the Ann Arbor’s Road to the LPGA tournament in Michigan in mid-June. This time, however, she finished just one shot from the title.
“I played very well, I was patient,” Klára evaluated her performance at the South Bend Country Club (par 72). In the first round, she had three birdies and three bogeys, but her play gradually improved to four birdies and a single bogey per round.
She was particularly successful in the second final nine, with birdies on the 15th and 16th holes, 3 and 4 par, thus scoring minus 2. “The second nine was long and tough, so I’m glad I played it under par in the final,” the professional looked back.
In the final, Klára Spilková hit 13 of 14 fairways, 16 of 18 greens in regulation and had 31 putts. Her best came in the 2nd round when she only played 29 putts and hit 12 fairways and 14 greens.
“It was a very solid game. I was looking forward to the tournament. I knew from practice rounds that the course suits me and I’m glad to have confirmed it,” added Klára Spilková, who newly moved to the 33rd place on the Epson Tour after 11 starts so far.
In Indiana, the title was claimed by China’s Yan Liu (-7) after a three-woman playoff.
“Three tournaments in a row gave me quite a bit of work. I am now going back to Greenville, where I live now, to rest and of course continue to train. In a week, I will be flying to two more Epson Tour tournaments,” Klára Spilková concluded her successful mission in Indiana.
