Thank You for Successful 2022 Season
Dear partners, friends and supporters,
The year 2022 has come to an end and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, which has helped me tremendously in making this golf season a splendid one.
I always set myself the highest goals, but the past year has still gone beyond my expectations. In a sport like golf, you may do your best but still fail because it requires a number of circumstances to come together for you to win.
After five years, I have managed to win a title on the Ladies European Tour, where I returned at the end of June. Before that, I played in the USA, once on the LPGA and then since the beginning of the year mostly on the Epson Tour, which brought me one 4th and one 15th place in the first half of the season.
And then came Europe. I finished second at the LET Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in Beroun, just a single shot away from winning, which showed me that I was on the right track. A week later, I finished 10th at the Amundi German Masters before I returned to the Epson Tour where I recorded two more Top 6 results.
My third good result on the Ladies European Tour, 8th spot at the Lacoste Open de France in September, confirmed to me that I can aim for the highest. That materialized just a weak later at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, where I won in the playoff. On the way to the victory, I had to step into water to play a shot to save par. I am glad that I made it and, hopefully, it pleased the audience and the viewers on TV, where they were talking about the shot of the year.
I am also pleased and motivated by the arrival of the new generation of Czech golfers, who made this season the most successful one from Czech perspective. I am happy I was able to contribute to that as well, including my 14th place in the final tournament in Spain and overall 17th place in the Race to Costa del Sol European rankings. In the world ranking, I moved from the fourth hundred to the 159th place during the year, which is the best final position from among Czech female golfers.
In 2023, I will fully focus on the Ladies European Tour. The LET will be my number one priority for the season. My goals are to get into the European team for the Solheim Cup in September and to represent the Czech Republic at my third Olympic Games the following year. My successes in the past year would not be possible without my partners, to whom I am very grateful.
Volvo Car Czech Republic has been accompanying me on my professional journey for 12 years now. I would like to also mention Engine, Carollinum, Bogner, Dukla Praha, Titleist, the Czech Golf Federation and the PGA National Czech Republic golf course who, too, were part of my achievements. I believe our successful cooperation will continue in following years. Thank you all once more.
Yours, Klára Spilková
