Successful Return Home
Klára Spilková has successfully returned to both the Ladies European Tour and home.
At the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in Beroun, after three comparable rounds, she finished with a tie for the overall 13th place with the result of seven-under-par (70-70-69). The result made her the best Czech player in the tournament, where she played before Czech fans for the first time in four years. Moreover, it was her first start this year on the LET, as Klára has been playing on the American LPGA for two seasons now.
“On the one hand, I am glad I could play home after several years and that I played well. On the other hand, I am a bit disappointed that I didn’t finish in top 10, which was my wish for the tournament. I would like to thank the organizers, Tipsport, Beroun Golf Club, and Ladies European Tour, as well as the fans who came to support me in large numbers,“ said Klára.
The KPMG global team and the Czech Golf Team member confirmed her position as the main domestic favourite since the beginning of the tournament. After round one, she tied for the 24th place, and then for the 19th place after the second round, only to seal her gradually improving performance in the final. In the first two rounds, she played along the eventual winner of the tournament, the Danish Emily Pedersen.
“I am usually nervous at the beginning, more so before Czech fans. But that’s the way it always is. But then I realized they came in to support me and my play improved. That was very pleasant,“ said Klára, who brought her coach Greg Lavoie as the caddie for the Beroun tournament. Also Klára’s parents, members of her support team, and many friends were among the spectators.
After the start of the Ladies European Tour, Klára Spilková has a two-week break before attending next LPGA tournaments in the US.
