The LPGA continues in California
Klára Spilková is preparing for a series of three consecutive starts in the LPGA. Last Sunday after training, she flew from Florida to California to play at the LPGA Mediheal Championship held in Daly City from 10 to 13 June.
The Lake Merced Golf Club course is 6,551 yards long with par 72, and the total prize money will be 1,500,000 USD.
“I was preparing for the tournament in Sarasota, where I trained on my home course, The Concession,” said Klára Spilková. “Since it is already summer, I can train from early morning until lunch before the storms come. I also continued my fitness and rehabilitation plan.“
She had a chance to get to know the Lake Merced course during her LPGA start two years ago when she finished tying for the 55th place with the total score 5-over-par.
“I actually liked it very much. It is a park-like, beautifully shaped course with high roughs and spectacular old trees. I am really looking forward to the tournament. At the moment, it looks like I will be playing three tournaments in a row, but I will eventually decide depending on how I will feel,” said the golf professional, who will be again accompanied by caddy Mike Mikolajczak, making this a fourth tournament since the start of their cooperation.
The LPGA Mediheal Championship is played for the third time. On the last venue in 2019, Sei Young beat Bronte Law and Jeongeun Lee6 in the playoff, while the year before triumphed Lydia Ko. The last year’s tournament was not held due to the pandemic.
Klára Spilková starts in the first round at 12.26 local time (CET-9 h).
