Klára Davidson Spilková: That is golf, but it doesn’t change my plans
It has been over a year since Czech professional golfer Klára Davidson Spilková failed to proceed to the final rounds at a Ladies European Tour competition, with the only exception of the inserted Aramco Team Series. Her remarkable streak, during which she missed only one tournament day, started in June last year at the domestic Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in Beroun. Since then, the Czech golf professional not only made the cut in all the tournaments but also recorded one title and several other top-five results. Unfortunately, this exceptional streak has come to an end in France, where Klára Davidson Spilková bid farewell to the tournament, the Amundi Evian Championship, already after the second round.
“I’m not sure what happened. It could have been my previous viral infection I suffered in Prague or something else that prevented me from performing at my best. The truth is that I didn’t feel my great during the tournament rounds. But I don’t feel disappointed – that’s just how golf can be, and I take everything as it comes,” the player shared from France.
“My plans remain unchanged – I will rest over the weekend and do everything to be well-prepared for the tournament in Scotland next Thursday. I don’t plan to stop in Prague either. We will fly directly from France to Glasgow and then take the shortest route to Dundonald Links. It all gives me even more motivation for the next LET event. The most important, and I believe the best, is still ahead of us,” the professional golfer stays optimistic.
Davidson Spilková will now play at least three tournaments in the British Isles. Besides the upcoming Freed Group Women’s Scottish Open, she will play another major tournament, the AIG Women’s Open, just a week later. Klára Davidson Spilková will then compete at the KPMG Irish Open, where she will defend last year’s victory. This tournament will be the conclusion of the third quarter of Klára Davidson Spilková’s so far successful season.
